In a shocking incident, a 38-year-old man died protesting with his oxygen mask on after he was refused admission by multiple hospitals in Nashik. The deceased has been identified as Babasaheb Kole died on Thursday night after he sat on a dharna outside the Nashik municipal corporation in Maharashtra. The COVID patient was seen sitting outside the municipal body's headquarters wearing an oxygen mask attached to a cylinder, according to a NDTV report. An hour later, he was taken to a municipal hospital by the corporation's municipal.

Kole's family claimed his oxygen level dropped to 40 per cent from a normal level of 95 per cent or higher around midnight. The patient breathed his last at 1am in the night. "Two-three days back he was taken to Bytco (Hospital). From there, he went to another hospital, from there to the government medical college. Medical College said it has no bed. We then went to other hospitals. Nobody admitted him. Then we came back to civil (hospital) and got oxygen for him and put him on it. Nobody heard us," the report quoted his wife as saying. The state of Maharashtra has witnessed a fresh wave of COVID-19 infections stretching health infrastructure to the brink of collapse at many places. On Wednesday, Maharashtra reported nearly 40,000 new COVID-19 cases.
