The Maharashtra state government has passed a resolution directing Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to appoint Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray as an MLC, at a time when elections to the council have been postponed due to coronavirus pandemic.Uddhav Thackeray is currently not a member of the state assembly and needs to become one within six months of taking office, which he did in November 2019.A decision was taken in today's cabinet meeting to recommend CM Uddhav Thackeray's name for the 2 vacant MLC posts that are recommended by Governor. As MLC elections can't be held due to COVID-19, it is being done to avoid a constitutional crisis, said Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik.
