Dhule, Maharashtra (May 31, 2025): An army jawan allegedly killed his wife by injecting her with pesticide after she found out about his relationship with another woman. The accused, Kapil Balu Bagul, 43, lives in the Walvadi area of Dhule city. Police have registered a murder case and arrested Kapil along with his mother, sister, and the woman he was having an affair with. According to police, Kapil Bagul, 43, was married to Pooja in 2010. The couple has a nine-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old son. Kapil studied at Jaihind College in Dhule. During his college years, he was in a relationship with a woman who later married someone else in 2007 and has two daughters aged 17 and 13. She is currently in the final stage of divorce. A few years ago, Kapil and the woman reconnected and reportedly began meeting at lodges. When Pooja discovered Kapil's extramarital relationship, the accused allegedly plotted her murder.

On Thursday evening, Kapil reportedly gave Pooja an injection containing pesticide. She started frothing at the mouth and later died. Initially, Kapil took her to a private hospital and was advised to shift her to the civil hospital. Instead, he began preparing for her last rites with help from others.

Pooja’s brother Bhushan Mahajan, 35, a resident of Bhadgaon, was informed by Kapil via phone that his sister had died. Bhushan immediately rushed to Dhule with relatives. Meanwhile, Devpur West Police Station received information about the suspicious death and sent officers to the spot. Police sent Pooja’s body for post-mortem. Initial investigation revealed that Kapil forcibly gave the injection by pinning Pooja down with help from others. Her mouth and hands had turned dark due to the poison.

Late into the night, police registered a murder case and arrested Kapil Bagul, his mother Vijaya Bagul, his sister Ranjana Mali of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and his girlfriend.

Pooja died about an hour and a half after the injection. Kapil reportedly did not take her to a hospital during that time and instead sat by her side until she died.

Kapil holds a bachelor’s degree while Pooja had completed BSc and BEd. His girlfriend has a BSc and MBA degree.

Relatives said Kapil frequently abused and harassed Pooja. She had earlier filed a complaint with the Women’s Commission in Jalgaon with help from her brothers. However, the complaint was withdrawn later to avoid trouble in her sister’s marriage, Bhushan Mahajan told Lokmat.
