TCS Nashik Case: Nida Khan in Mumbai, Expecting Child; Family Refutes Allegations Against Her

The family of Nida Khan has strongly contested the allegations made against her in the ongoing controversy linked to a BPO unit associated with Tata Consultancy Services in Nashik. Refuting claims that she is absconding or a “mastermind” behind religious coercion, her relatives insist she is at her residence in Mumbai, expecting her first child, reported Hindustan Times. They stated that no police officials have visited their home and alleged that she is being unfairly targeted based on unverified claims, the report added. The family also dismissed viral social media posts portraying her as an HR head, clarifying that she worked as a tele-caller and had no managerial authority within the organisation, the report added.

They further described the emotional toll the case has taken, stating that the accusations have caused severe mental distress. According to family members, they initially believed the police may have been referring to another individual with the same name. However, they were shocked when they learned that a case had indeed been registered against her, the report added. They also alleged that her photograph was lifted from social media and misrepresented online to build a misleading narrative about her role, the report added. Meanwhile, her legal team has begun the process of seeking anticipatory bail as the investigation continues to unfold.

The case itself emerged after a complaint triggered a wider probe into the Nashik-based BPO unit. Police have registered nine FIRs and arrested eight employees, including seven men and one female manager. The first complaint, filed on March 26, accused a senior colleague of rape under the false promise of marriage. Following this, several other employees came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct, mental harassment, and religious pressure. Authorities claim the accused individuals acted in coordination, creating an environment where junior staff were allegedly exploited and discouraged from reporting abuse.

Officials revealed that the extent of the alleged misconduct became clear after a 40-day undercover operation. Six female police personnel were deployed inside the office, posing as employees to observe internal practices. Their findings reportedly supported the initial allegations and led to formal action. Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik stated that the accused appeared to function like an organised group. Investigators are also examining claims of religious coercion and possible international links, including conversations about sending employees abroad for lucrative job opportunities.

As the probe widens, central agencies such as the National Investigation Agency and the Anti-Terrorism Squad have been contacted to assist the Special Investigation Team. Tata Consultancy Services has terminated most of the arrested employees and initiated an internal inquiry. Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran described the allegations as deeply concerning. The matter has also reached the Supreme Court of India, while the National Commission for Women has formed a committee to independently examine the case.
