Maharashtra Shocker: Man Arrested for Raping 13-Year-Old Cancer Patient in Thane

A 29-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating a 13-year-old cancer patient in the Thane district of Maharashtra, police confirmed on Saturday. The accused was apprehended in Bihar on Thursday, following an investigation into the disturbing crime.  

According to police reports, the accused, who shared a village with the victim’s family in Bihar, had facilitated their relocation to Badlapur approximately two months prior. He also provided assistance with the girl’s medical treatment.  

Assistant Commissioner of Police Shailesh Kale stated that the accused allegedly exploited the girl's vulnerable situation, sexually assaulting her on three separate occasions when she was alone at their rented residence.  

The victim was undergoing chemotherapy treatment at a hospital in neighboring Mumbai. During a routine medical examination, medical professionals discovered that she was pregnant. This discovery prompted immediate reporting to the authorities.  

Subsequently, a case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, as well as relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused is now in custody, and further investigations are underway
