Maharashtra Weather Update: Akola, Wardha Cross 40°C Mark; Sangli Reports Hailstorm

The Met department has issued a warning of unseasonal rains are likely to occur at various places across the state over the next three days. Amid this temperatures in Maharashtra surged on Sunday in some parts, while the Sangli district witnessed a hailstorm.

On Sunday, the highest temperature recorded in the country 45 degrees Celsius was observed in the cities of Akola and Wardha. The mercury in all cities across the Vidarbha region rose above the 41-degree mark, with temperatures in Nagpur and Amravati exceeding 44 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile on Sunday evening, a sudden stormy downpour lashed the cities of Sangli, Miraj, and Kupwad, as well as the Miraj and Tasgaon talukas.

Marathwada Crosses the 40-Degree Mark

Along with Vidarbha, temperatures in all major cities of the Marathwada region have also risen above 40 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, temperatures in Jalgaon (North Maharashtra) and in Pune, Sangli, Satara, and Solapur (West Maharashtra) have ranged between 40 and 43 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for rain in the Vidarbha region for the next two days.

Compared to Vidarbha and Khandesh, the incidence of unseasonal rain is expected to be higher in Central Maharashtra and Marathwada. The likelihood of unseasonal rain is relatively low in the Konkan region. The weather there will remain cloudy. There is a possibility of unseasonal rain in Central Maharashtra and Marathwada on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
