Maximum temperatures have dropped below normal across Maharashtra, except in Vidarbha, while light rain is likely in the Greater Mumbai region on Tuesday, March 31. Rainfall accompanied by thunder is expected in Mumbai and Palghar, while isolated areas in Thane may witness thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, according India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather department has issued a yellow alert for parts of South Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, while an orange alert has been sounded for North Maharashtra and Pune due to the possibility of hail.

IMD said two western disturbances are currently active over the country. Under their influence, rainfall is likely over northwest India between March 30 and April 4. Hail has also been reported in parts of Maharashtra, and more such activity is possible in isolated areas.

Due to unseasonal rain, maximum temperatures have dropped in most parts of the state, except Vidarbha. In Mumbai, Santacruz recorded a maximum temperature of 32.9 degrees Celsius, while Colaba recorded 33 degrees Celsius on Monday. Pune, Jalgaon, Mahabaleshwar, Nashik and Sangli also recorded a drop of more than 1 degree Celsius. Pune recorded 26.2 mm of rainfall, while Lohegaon recorded 36 mm.
