Counting of votes for the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) elections 2026 is underway, with early trends indicating a clear lead for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As per the latest updates, the BJP is leading in 22 seats, while other major parties are yet to open their accounts.
According to current trends, the Shiv Sena (UBT)-led alliance, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) have not secured a lead in any seat so far. The counting process is still in progress, and officials have cautioned that the figures may change as more rounds are completed.
The counting is being conducted under tight security arrangements across designated centres in Mira and Bhayandar. Election officials have deployed adequate police personnel, CCTV surveillance, and restricted entry protocols to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
The Mira Bhayandar civic polls are being closely watched as they are seen as a key indicator of urban voter sentiment ahead of future state-level political battles. In the 2017, elections to the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation were held on August 20, and the civic body had a total strength of 95 seats. The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation had a total of 5,93,336 voters at that time. The Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the dominant force in the corporation, winning a clear majority with 61 seats.
The Shiv Sena secured the second position with 22 seats, while the Congress won 10 seats. Independents and other smaller parties accounted for the remaining 2 seats.
