In his weekly column in Shiv Sena mouthpiece 'Saamna' on Sunday, Sanjay Raut had raised questions over the sudden appearance of "Mahatma" Sood in Mumbai to help the migrants during the coronavirus COVID-19 lockdown.

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut slammed Sonu Sood for "enacting a political script written by BJP".

MNS leader Sandeep Deshpande targeted Raut, "The situation in Maharashtra is very bad right now," he posted a video on Twitter. COVID-19 patients here do not get ambulance. Even if an ambulance is provided, the government hospital does not have enough space to accomodate these patients and if somehow patients get admission in hospital  , the condition of the government hospital is in bad shape. Sandeep Deshpande also said that hefty amount of bills are being collected from patients in private hospitals. "So I think if you improve the condition of the hospitals you too can become famous like Sonu Sood. Similarly, even if your party does the work of giving hope to the patients, I myself am ready to come to the 'Saamna' office and will tuch your feet", said the MNS leader.

Sood has organized dozens of buses for stranded migrants and at least two flights to various destinations in India, earning accolades.
