The coronavirus case count in Mumbai's Dharavi area rose to 3,109 on Friday with seven new cases coming to light, a senior Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said.

For the last nine days, Dharavi, known as Asia's largest slum, was reporting double-digit spike in cases.

Of 3,109 cases, 2,637 patients have recovered and there are 191 active patients, the official said.

The BMC does not share data of fatalities from the area.

Spread over 2.5 sq km, Dharavi has a population of around 6.5 lakh.
