On Thursday, Dharavi reported eight new cases of coronavirus taking the tally to 2,597, the city civic body said.

A senior Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said eight fresh infections took the tally to 2,597, but Dharavi has only 82 active COVID-19 cases.

As many as 2,515 patients have already recovered and discharged from COVID-19 facilities, he said.

The civic body has, however, stopped disclosing COVID-19 deaths.

World Health Organization (WHO) praised the efficient COVID-19 management in Mumbai's Dharavi, one of the largest slums in the world.
