Mumbai Police on Wednesday seized 57,500 masks from the possession of one, Mohd. Miraj Ikramul Haq. He was allegedly selling the masks at a higher price. Masks worth Rs 17.25 lakhs have been seized. A case has been registered under relevant sections of Essential Commodities Act by the Mumbai Police,

The demand for protective face masks is surging to an all-time high due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Maharashtra is one of the worst-hit in the country with 1078 number of COVID-19 cases. Also 60 more people tested positive today. 44 fresh cases have been found under Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation area, 9 under Pune Municipal Corporation area, 4 in Nagpur, & 1 each in Ahmednagar, Akola & Buldhana.
