The entire country is under lockdown due COVID-19 pandemic. The government has called for complete lockdown and asked citizens to maintain social distancing. The authorities have asked citizens to wear masks when stepping outside of their house.

In order to provide some help to curb the spread of coronavirus, Maharashtra's Nagpur Central Jail prisoners have been manufacturing masks. Till April 23, the Central Jail has supplied a total of 45,000 masks to various government and semi-government offices including Gram Panchayats.

They decided to manufacture protect gear due to scarcity of masks in the market. Prisoners working in the jail's stitching department manufacture hundreds of masks every day and these are supplied to several prisons and government departments in the state.

Jail superintendent Anup Kumre said, the authorities have also taken precautionary measures in the prison premises to prevent the spread of the deadly infection.
