Nagpur Factory Blast: 5 Killed in Explosion at Aluminium Foil Plant Due to Safety Lapses, 3 booked
In major factory blast in Nagpur five people lost their lives. This blast took place at an aluminum foil factory located in the Umrer region of the Nagpur district in Maharashtra, as per the news agency ANI, quoting police. As per the report cited in PTI it is said that the blast occurred due to safety lapses, and the case has been registered against three individuals on Monday.
The blast occurred on April 11 at MMP aluminium industries in Umred MIDC in Maharashtra's Nagpur district. A Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH) report revealed that factory management endangered workers' lives by failing to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adequate safety training to new employees. Umred police have registered a case against two managers and a safety in-charge under sections 106(1), 287, and 125(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, pertaining to negligence, in connection with the Nagpur factory blast.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, also the guardian minister of Nagpur, announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased, following Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's instructions. Bawankule visited the site and directed a thorough inquiry. The company has agreed to provide Rs 55 lakh to each deceased worker's family, along with a job for one family member. Injured workers will receive Rs 30 lakh each, and a family member will be offered employment.
