Expressing displeasure over the corrupt management of the Navi Mumbai corporation, a person tried to set himself on fire outside the corporation headquarters. The man has been taken into police custody. He tried to set himself on fire, alleging that municipal officials were also supporting those who swindled money by making false complaints.

Yogesh Chavan, a resident of Ghansoli, had sat in protest at the Kopar Khairane division office a few days back. He alleged that some politicians with the help of municipal officials were robbing the common man. Therefore, he demanded that the administration should not give shelter to false complainants. 

But department officials did not respond to him. Moreover, even after that, the practice of harassment by filing more and more complaints against the same person continued. Therefore, an angry Yogesh Chavan tried to set himself on fire by pouring petrol on himself at the entrance of the corporation headquarters on Tuesday. At the same time, police and security guards present at the scene arrested him.

Chavan has alleged that there is a lot of corruption in the Kopar Khairane divisional office. He has earlier given a statement to the Municipal Commissioner and the police in this regard. But Chavan said he tried to commit suicide to protest against the extortion of the common man as they were being backed by corrupt officials.
