Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami has repeatedly targeted the Shiv Sena and the Maharashtra government over the Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput death case. He has criticized everyone from Home Minister Anil Deshmukh to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

The Maharashtra Government has sent a breach of privilege notice to Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami. The 60-page privilege notice against Arnab Goswami was sent after privilege motions were moved against him by Shiv Sena in the both houses in Maharashtra.

BJP MP Ravi Kishan has reacted to the whole issue saying,"media is the fourth pillar of the democracy and muzzling the voice of media is not good for a healthy democracy and not in the interest of the country."

Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Saranaik on September 8 in the Assembly moved a privilege motion against Republic TV for allegedly insulting the Chief Minister, ministers and members of the house and running a media trial where the anchor, editor and promoter Arnab Goswami projects himself as judge and gives ruling.

Sarnaik said that Goswami's behavior attracts breach of privilege of the members of the state legislature and therefore he requested the deputy speaker Narhari Zirval to accept the motion and take necessary action against Republic TV.
