Farmers are protesting against the newly enacted farm laws for over two months at various borders of the national capital. The Congress had extended support to the nationwide 'Chakka jam' protest by farmers on Friday. The party's General Secretary KC Venugopal said in a statement that party workers will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with farmers in their protest against the new farm laws.

However, as the issue has not been resolved yet, farmers' organizations have taken an aggressive stance and called for a nationwide Chakka Jam agitation on Saturday.

The Congress has supported this Chakka Jam movement. Meanwhile, BJP leaders have accused the farmers' movement of being Khalistani, Naxalite and anti-national. On this issue, Congress leader Sachin Sawant reminded BJP of its support to Kangana Ranaut.

"The honor of the breadwinner is paramount in the country. Calling him a Khalistani, a Naxalite and a traitor, the #BJP leaders sided with those who insulted Maharashtra and it's Chief Minister. Calling Mumbai Police mafia, a drug addict who compared Mumbai with Pakistan, weren't you ashamed,"tweeted Sawant.

Meanwhile, farmers have set up barricades on the Delhi border in protest of the new agriculture laws passed by the central government. There were frequent discussions between the government and the farmers' leaders to find a solution. However, a settlement has not yet been reached and farmers are adamant that the new agricultural laws be repealed.

Farmers have been protesting at different borders of the national capital since November 26 last year against the three newly enacted farm laws: Farmers' Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
