Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ayodhya on Wednesday for the bhoomi pujan ceremony for the construction of a Ram temple.

The Shiv Sena party commenting on the ceremony said it was "fulfilment" of party founder Bal Thackeray''s dream.

"Fulfilment of Balasaheb''s dream," reads a graphic Sena Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut shared on Twitter. The graphic also depicts a temple and carries text "Shree Ram" and "garv se kaho hum Hindu hai (say with pride that we are Hindus)".

The late Sena patriarch, termed by party followers as "Hinduhridaysamrat" (Emperor of Hindu hearts), was a strong proponent of the temple cause.

Sanjay Raut leader of Shiv Sena, Maharashtra on CM Uddhav Thackeray not being invited to the bhumi poojan ceremony said,"It is appropriate if less number of people have been invited there (in Ayodhya), in the wake of COVID-19. Today official function is being held but there is no ban on anyone's visit to Ayodhya. We'll go there later again."
