In a shameful incident,  a 34-year-old doctor allegedly assaulted a male patient of Covid-19 in the ICU ward of Mumbai's Wockhardt hospital.

As per the reports, the 44-year-old COVID-19 patient was admitted to the hospital and was kept in the intensive care unit. The next day, on the morning of May 1, a 35-year-old doctor came to the intensive care unit to examine the patient. While examining, he began to kiss the patient. The patient alleged that on protesting, doctor told the patient to sleep peacefully and rest.

Police have registered a case under IPC sections 377 (unnatural offences), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of diseases endangering life) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of diseases endangering life), based on a complaint from the hospital''s HR head.

However, it is being speculated that the doctor must have contracted the infection from the COVID-19 patient. Therefore, the police have not arrested the doctor at present and he has been placed under house quarantined, police said.
