Baramati MP Supriya Sule narrowly escaped a major accident on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway after a speeding vehicle crashed into her car on Saturday. The collision reportedly occurred because of reckless driving by the other vehicle. Although the impact caused visible damage to Sule’s car, especially on one side, she and the other passengers travelling with her were unharmed. The incident briefly created panic on the busy expressway, but all occupants remained safe. Sule later shared details of the frightening experience on social media and highlighted the importance of responsible driving practices and road safety awareness among motorists.
In a statement posted online after the incident, Sule described the accident as a disturbing reminder of the dangers caused by careless and over-speeding drivers on highways. She said that while travelling from Pune to Mumbai, another vehicle rammed into her car due to rash driving, creating a tense moment for everyone inside. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Sule appealed to citizens to strictly follow traffic rules, remain attentive while driving, and ensure the use of seat belts at all times. According to her, negligence on roads can endanger not only drivers but also several innocent commuters travelling alongside them.
She posted on X, While travelling from Pune to Mumbai today, I had an awful experience on the highway when vehicle GJ13CF5257 rammed into my car from the side due to reckless driving. Thankfully, everyone is safe. Incidents like these are a serious reminder that overspeeding and negligence on our roads can put countless lives at risk. I urge everyone to wear seat belts, remain alert, and drive responsibly so that our highways are safer for all."
Speaking further about the incident, Sule explained that the speeding vehicle struck the exact side of the car where she was seated. She was sitting in the rear seat and had fastened her seat belt, which she believes played a crucial role in ensuring her safety during the collision. The impact severely damaged the car door, but everyone inside escaped without injuries. Recalling the frightening moments after the crash, Sule once again stressed the importance of wearing seat belts while travelling. She said the incident should serve as a wake-up call for people to adopt safer driving habits and exercise greater caution on highways.
