The grand celebrations of Ram Navami at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on Friday were marked by the spectacular ‘Surya Tilak’ ritual, during which a precisely aligned ray of sunlight illuminated the forehead of Ram Lalla’s idol. This rare celestial moment occurred exactly at noon, creating a divine tilak on the deity’s forehead. Priests performed special prayers during the ritual, adding to the spiritual atmosphere. The event drew large numbers of devotees who gathered to witness the sacred phenomenon, which symbolises divine energy and cosmic alignment with Lord Ram on his birth anniversary.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took part in the Ram Navami festivities by offering prayers to Bhagwan Ram and observing the Surya Tilak ceremony at the temple. Meanwhile, Yogi Adityanath extended heartfelt greetings to citizens, highlighting the importance of the ninth day of Navratri. He described it as a spiritually significant occasion that brings prosperity, happiness, and well-being. Addressing a gathering, he noted that the day marks the culmination of nine days of devotion to Goddess Durga and expressed hope that her blessings would bring joy and success into people’s lives.

In his address, Yogi Adityanath emphasised that Ram Navami also commemorates the birth anniversary of Lord Ram, who remains an eternal inspiration for Indians. He described Lord Ram as the ideal embodiment of righteousness and the guiding force of Sanatan Dharma. The Chief Minister said that Lord Ram’s life continues to inspire individuals to lead a disciplined and value-based life. He further underlined that the festival is not only religiously significant but also culturally important, strengthening the moral fabric of society and reminding people of timeless virtues such as duty, sacrifice, and integrity.

Arun Govil also conveyed his greetings on the occasion, urging people to follow the path shown by Lord Ram. Speaking to ANI, he emphasised that Lord Ram’s teachings hold great relevance even today and should guide people in their daily lives. Ram Navami is celebrated across India with immense devotion, especially in Ayodhya, believed to be Lord Ram’s birthplace. The festival marks the divine appearance of Lord Ram in human form and is observed with prayers, processions, and religious rituals by millions of devotees nationwide.

In the days leading up to Ram Navami, devotees observe the nine-day Chaitra Navratri fast, which involves spiritual discipline and self-restraint. During this period, people abstain from alcohol and smoking, follow a sattvic vegetarian diet, and dedicate time to prayer and meditation. These practices are believed to purify the body and mind, allowing devotees to connect more deeply with the divine. The observance of Navratri culminates on Ram Navami, making it a spiritually enriching period that combines devotion, discipline, and celebration across communities.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the nation through a message on X, expressing hope that Lord Ram’s blessings would guide India towards becoming a “Viksit” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat.” He stated that the life of Maryada Purushottam teaches values of sacrifice, discipline, and strength in facing challenges. He added that Lord Ram’s ideals will continue to inspire not just India but humanity as a whole. The Prime Minister prayed for the well-being of all citizens and expressed confidence that these ideals would help achieve national progress and prosperity.

The Surya Tilak ceremony itself has gained immense popularity among devotees, as it represents a blend of science and spirituality. The ritual involves directing a beam of sunlight onto the idol’s forehead using a precise arrangement of mirrors and lenses. This symbolic act signifies divine blessings and cosmic harmony. Prime Minister Modi had earlier encouraged devotees worldwide to witness the ceremony via live streaming organised by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, calling it a rare and historic moment, especially as it followed the first Ram Navami after the consecration of the temple.

Lord Ram is widely revered as a symbol of truth, righteousness, and duty, and his teachings continue to influence millions across generations. His life story encourages adherence to moral values and ethical conduct, making him a central figure in India’s spiritual and cultural identity. Festivals like Ram Navami serve as a reminder of these enduring principles, inspiring people to lead virtuous lives. The continued devotion towards Lord Ram reflects the deep-rooted faith and traditions that remain integral to India’s social and spiritual fabric.
