At least 86 construction workers have tested COVID-19 positive on Friday in Thane district of Maharashtra. These workers were working at a renowned builder's site in Manpada-Majiwada ward. 

Sandeep Malvi, deputy municipal commissioner who shared the news said that 536 workers employed at construction site were tested for possible contraction of the disease of which 86 tested have tested positive.

Dr Vipin Sharma, Municipal commissioner, this week had instructed all the real estate developers in the city to conduct RTPCR Covid tests on the workers who stay on site. He said, it is important to conduct the covid tests on the workers as there are chances that they might already be infected and can further spread infection if unnoticed.

Meanwhile, the real estate developers has blamed the exercise to be financially straining and seeks assistance from the administration.
