Thane appoints 14-member task force to tackle COVID-19 situation

Thane district has reported maximum coronavirus cases with 87,790 of which 34,471 are active. In a bid to contain the spread the Thane collector’s office on Tuesday has appointed a 14-member task force to monitor the Covid-19 response, as the district has reported highest number of cases in the country.

The task force member consists of medical experts, according to the order passed by Rajesh Narvekar. The task force will  effectively monitor and study the covid situation in the district.

The main role of the task force is to spreading information on government policies, mentoring and conducting webinars, and keeping a close look on the patient treatment and discharge policies at government and private hospitals, said Dr Kailash Pawar, chief surgeon of Thane Civil Hospital. 

The task force will monitor whether the hospitals need any assistance in clinical management, said Pawar.

According to the order, the dean of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital, Dr Pratibha Sawant, will head the task force.
