Maharashtra has been one of the worst hit state by the deadly coronavirus. While the state government is taking all measures to curb the spread of the disease, the number of cases are increasing day by day.

In order to contain the spread Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday said some districts can inspire from the COVID-free Goa model to fight covid-19 pandemic.

While addressing the district authorities over video conferencing, the CM directed them to replicate the Goa model and conduct door-to-door survey to not only check people for coronavirus symptoms, but also monsoon-related diseases. Goa has no COVID-19 cases at present.

Thackeray mentioned that district borders will not be opened anytime soon and ordered the district authorities to ensure there is no ease in the lockdown restrictions in the containment zones. The Maharashtra CM also directed the officials to prepare a detailed plan how to ease restrictions during the lockdown 4.0 period.

The COVID-19 tally in the state has risen to 24,427 on May 12. Of the total, Mumbai alone accounts for 14,781 coronavirus cases.
