In a tweet he urged everyone to register themselves and get vaccinated. "Took the first dose of #Covid19Vaccine today at Maharashtra Government's Rural Hospital, Virar. I thank all the doctors and staff of the facility. Except for the needle prick, the vaccine is safe and we urge people to get registered and vaccinated," Thakur wrote in a tweet.

During the second-phase of the inoculation drive that started on March 1, people aged 60 years and above and those in the 45-59 age group with specific comorbidities are being administered the vaccine.
