The number of coronavirus cases in Vasai Virar area is rapidly increasing. Due to increasing cases the Vasai Virar Corporation has enforced a complete lockdown in 18 areas which include Pelhar, Valiv, Achole and Chandansar for the next fourteen days. The total number of coronavirus cases in the area has risen to 2,000.

However, the authority has planned to shut shops selling non-essentials in a few areas while essential shops are said to remain open. 

The move has been taken in parts of the Vasai-Virar township near Mumbai in order to curb the spread of the infection.The 14-day-lockdown came into force earlier on June 18 and a group of police personnel had been deployed to make sure that the citizens adhere to the strict guidelines in reference to the lockdown.
