In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases in the state, the administration has warned citizens to follow social distancing, wear masks and avoid crowding. However there are few citizens who still aren't getting the seriousness of the situation. A Shiv Sena corporator named Navin Gawli from ward no 43 of Netivali in Kalyan East was seen celebrating his birthday violating COVID-19 rules. On the occasion of a Shiv Sena corporator's birthday, a large crowd had gathered at Chakki Naka area in Kalyan East on Tuesday midnight.

Gawli celebrated his birthday with the youngsters present, dancing to the beat of drums and lighting firecrackers. Some videos of his birthday celebrations have gone viral on social media. No social distancing was observed during the celebration which can be seen in the video.

People were not wearing masks during the birthday celebration. In such situation everyone has been pointing out at the police administration. What exactly the police administration was doing when the celebrations took place. Amidst a spurt in COVID-19 cases, the Maharashtra government has imposed a night curfew in Kalyan-Dombivli. Shops have been permitted to remain open for five days from 7 am till 7 pm. During the night curfew, no customer will be served at bars and restaurants after 11 pm.
