Maharashtra Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Wadettiwar on Monday said that Mumbai local trains services for the general public would not be considered until it's corona positivity rate comes under level one. Maharashtra government had announced a detailed five-level plan to initiate the unlock process in the state as the Covid-19 situation improved. The Thackeray government informed that relaxations will be implemented based on the positivity rate and occupancy of oxygen beds in districts and cities. Under the plan, districts and cities falling in “Level 1" will have the few restrictions, while those in “Level 5" will have strict restrictions.

Talking to reporters, he clarified that Mumbai is still in level three. Although the covid cases are declining, the threat is not fully gone. Mumbai local train services cannot be started immediately for the general public. In some districts, the situation is still very worrying. The authority to relax restrictions in all districts is vested on the local administration. The administration will review the situation from time to time and decide on the restrictions.

In Mumbai, for the 18th consecutive day, new infections remained below the four figure level, decreasing from 695 on Sunday to 530 on Monday, to send the city tally to 716,190 till date. Daily deaths remained stable at 19 for the second day, and the total fatalities in the country's commercial capital rose to 15,202.
