A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a speeding dumper rammed into his bike on the Western Express Highway in Dahisar on Monday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Aslam Sheikh. The Dahisar police have arrested the dumper driver responsible for the accident.

 

According to police, the accused driver fled the spot after the accident without providing any medical assistance to the injured biker or informing authorities. However, after a case was registered, the police traced and arrested the driver.

 

The accident occurred at around 1:15 pm on March 16 on the northbound lane of the Western Express Highway near Shri Krishna Hotel in Dahisar. Abdul Sheikh, a resident of Andheri, had come to the Dahisar area on his motorcycle for work.

 

While he was riding along the northbound lane near Shri Krishna Hotel, a speeding dumper allegedly rammed into his bike with great force, leaving him critically injured.

 

After receiving information about the accident from local residents, Dahisar police rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the injured Abdul to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

 

Police later informed Sheikh’s family about the incident, following which his relatives rushed to the hospital.

 

In this connection, the police have registered a case against the dumper driver for causing death due to negligent driving. The accused driver, who had fled the scene after the accident, was subsequently detained by the police. The vehicle involved in the accident has been seized.

 

After his arrest, the accused was served a notice and later released,police said.
