Asha Bhosle’s passing at the age of 92 prompted an outpouring of grief across Mumbai, with city mayor Ritu Tawde visiting her residence on Monday, April 13, to offer her final respects. During the visit, Tawde paid floral tributes and described the late singer as an eternal guiding star of India’s music industry. She was accompanied by BJP leader Ashish Shelar. Photographs shared by the mayor captured emotional moments, including her interaction with Bhosle’s grieving family members, such as her son and granddaughter Zanai Bhosle, who appeared deeply affected by the immense personal loss.

Expressing her sorrow publicly, Tawde shared a heartfelt message on social media platform X, reflecting on the end of an extraordinary musical journey. She wrote that the departure of Asha Tai marks the conclusion of a golden era, as her voice had enchanted listeners for decades and left an unforgettable imprint on Indian music. Tawde emphasized that the loss is beyond measure and cannot be replaced. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also visited to pay homage, offering his respects and acknowledging the singer’s unparalleled contribution to the cultural fabric of the nation.

Many other political leaders like Uddhav Thackeray, Raj Thackeray, Rashmi Thackeray, and Celebrities like Vidya Balan and Sachin Tendulkar paid to Asha Bhosle at her residence in Lower Parel.

The city is preparing for an emotional farewell to the iconic singer, who passed away on Sunday due to multiple organ failure after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on April 11 with a chest infection. Her mortal remains have been placed at her residence in Lower Parel, allowing admirers and the public to pay their respects between 11 am and 3 pm. The atmosphere remains somber as people from different walks of life continue to gather, reflecting the immense love and admiration she commanded throughout her illustrious career spanning several decades.

Preparations for the final rites are underway at Shivaji Park, where arrangements have been made to accommodate a large number of mourners. The cremation will take place at the Late Bhagoji Baluji Keer Hindu Shamshan Bhoomi with full state honours at 4 pm. Floral decorations have been set up at the venue as a tribute to her remarkable legacy. Tight security measures have also been implemented, anticipating the presence of prominent personalities and countless fans. The passing of Asha Bhosle has plunged the nation into mourning, with tributes continuing to pour in from across the country.
