Mumbai, Maharashtra (October 21, 2024): The Esplanade court in Mumbai has extended the police custody of four accused in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui until October 25.

The accused—Gurmail Baljit Singh, 23, of Haryana; Dharmaraj Kashyap, 21, of Uttar Pradesh; Harish Kumar Nisad, 26; and Pune resident Pravin Lonkar, 30—were presented before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate V.R. Patil at Esplanade Court today after their initial custody period expired.

Police requested an extension of custody, stating that the accused were not cooperating with the investigation and were providing misleading information.

According to the prosecution, Singh and Kashyap, along with the wanted accused Shivkumar Gautam, fired at Siddique, 66. Pravin Lonkar's brother, Shubham, is reportedly associated with the jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Authorities allege that he and other wanted suspects conspired to execute the shooting and supplied firearms to the assailants. Nisad, identified as a scrap dealer in Pune, allegedly provided financial assistance for the operation, police said.

Siddique was shot and seriously injured in the Nirmal Nagar area of Bandra around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 and later died at Lilavati Hospital.
