Baba Siddiqui Murder Case: Zeeshan Siddiqui Visits Mumbai Police Commissioner's Office

Mumbai, Maharashtra (October 16, 2024): Zeeshan Siddiqui, son of Baba Siddiqui and a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), visited the Mumbai Police Commissionerate on Wednesday. He met with Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar and Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Lakhmi Gautam.

They were engaged in discussions for nearly half an hour, though the purpose of the meeting has not been disclosed.

According to media reports, the Crime Branch is expected to record Siddiqui’s statement to assess potential security concerns surrounding his father or any business rivalries linked to Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) projects.

Baba Siddique, a three-time MLA, was shot by three gunmen as he left his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East. As Siddique entered his vehicle, the assailants fired six to seven rounds, hitting him multiple times, including twice in the chest and once in the abdomen. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in critical condition but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Baba Siddique was a well-known figure in Maharashtra politics, having been elected as a Congress MLA three times from the Bandra West constituency between 1999 and 2014. He also served as a minister in the Congress-NCP government from 2004 to 2008 and also served as the chairman of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA).
