Congress candidate Asha Deepak Kale won from Ward No. 183 in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in Mumbai’s Dharavi area on Friday, January 16. She defeated Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) candidate Vaishali Shevale and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) candidate Parihar Katke. Kale won the ward by a margin of 1,450 votes.
A total of seven candidates were in the fray from Ward No. 183 in Dharavi. These included Asha Deepak Kale of the Congress, Parubai Dattu Katke of the MNS, Rajshree Ganesh Khade of the NCP faction, Mangal Shivaji Bhagat of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Vaishali Naveen Shevale of the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), Swati Ganesh Devlekar of the Uttar Bharatiya Vikas Sena, and independent candidate advocate Uttara Manohar Khaire.

In the 2017 BMC elections, the Indian National Congress candidate Ganga Kunal Mane had won from Ward No. 183, Ruparel College–Matunga Workshop.
