Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde and Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat paid floral tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the occasion of his birth anniversary during the Shiv Jayanti celebrations in Shivaji Park, Dadar West. The programme was organised by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, where BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani also offered respects at the iconic equestrian statue of the Maratha warrior king. The ceremony was attended by civic officials and citizens who gathered to honour Shivaji Maharaj’s enduring legacy, remembering his courage, visionary leadership, and commitment to establishing a just and self-reliant kingdom rooted in the ideals of Swarajya.
Acharya Devvrat also marked the occasion by offering floral homage to Shivaji Maharaj earlier in the day. Across Maharashtra, several commemorative events were organised to celebrate the birth anniversary of the legendary ruler. At Shivneri Fort in Pune district, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended a special programme along with Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar. The leaders paid tribute at the historic fort, the birthplace of Shivaji Maharaj, and highlighted the timeless relevance of his governance and leadership principles.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Shivaji Maharaj as a visionary leader, outstanding administrator, astute strategist, and champion of Swarajya. He noted that Shivaji Maharaj’s bravery continues to inspire the nation, while his governance model remains a guiding example. Emphasising the ruler’s deep sense of justice and self-respect, the Prime Minister stated that Shivaji Maharaj always prioritised the welfare and protection of his people, which is why his life and ideals remain a beacon of inspiration for generations across India.
In separate posts on X, the Prime Minister expressed reverence on the Jayanti of the great Maratha ruler. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled a nearly 21-foot-tall equestrian statue of Shivaji Maharaj in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, constructed by Maharashtra Samaj Gandhinagar. Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony. Addressing the gathering, Shah described the unveiling as a moment of pride for Gandhinagar, stating that the grand statue of the founder of Hindavi Swaraj would inspire especially the youth for many years to come.
