A speeding tempo struck a group of pedestrians in Chirag Nagar, Ghatkopar West, on the evening of December 26, resulting in one woman's death and serious injuries to several others. The accident occurred around 7:30 PM when a tempo transporting cold drinks from Narayan Nagar lost control and hit five to six pedestrians. Witnesses reported the vehicle was traveling at a dangerously high speed before the driver lost control. One woman died at the scene, while two to three others were taken to Rajawadi Hospital in critical condition.

Local residents quickly apprehended the driver, who was handed over to the Ghatkopar Police, who are investigating the incident. Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying, with the crash causing panic among pedestrians. Thanks to the prompt actions of locals, the injured received timely medical assistance, and the driver was detained without delay. Both the driver and the vehicle are in custody.
