Legendary Singer Asha Bhosle cremated with full state honours at Shivaji Park Crematorium in Dadar. Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92 on April 12 due to multi-organ failure and chest infection. She was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on April 11 because she was suffering from extreme exhaustion and a chest infection before her condition deteriorated. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, Bollywood celebrities like Aamir Khan, Viky Kaushal, and many others paid tributes to the legendary singer.

Asha Bhosle is one of the most iconic and versatile voices in Indian music history, with a career spanning over seven decades. Born on September 8, 1933, in Sangli, she was the daughter of renowned Marathi stage actor and classical singer Deenanath Mangeshkar. Growing up in a musically rich household, Asha was exposed to classical music at a very young age. After her father’s untimely demise, the responsibility of supporting the family fell on her elder sister, legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, and soon Asha too stepped into the world of playback singing.

Asha Bhosle’s early life was marked by struggle and determination. She began singing in films during her teenage years, initially taking up smaller assignments and songs that others refused. Her breakthrough came in the 1950s and 1960s when she collaborated with music directors like O. P. Nayyar, who helped shape her bold and energetic singing style. Later, her association with R. D. Burman became legendary, producing timeless hits that defined Bollywood music for decades.

Throughout her career, Asha Bhosle proved her unmatched versatility by excelling in various genres—romantic melodies, cabaret songs, classical-based compositions, ghazals, and pop music. From soulful tracks to peppy dance numbers, she adapted effortlessly to changing musical trends. She has recorded thousands of songs in multiple Indian and international languages, making her one of the most recorded artists in the world.Her personal life has also been widely discussed. Asha married Ganpatrao Bhosle at a young age, but the marriage ended in separation. Later, she married R. D. Burman, with whom she shared both a personal and creative partnership until his passing. She has three children, including Hemant Bhosle and Anand Bhosle, and continues to remain closely connected with her family.

Over the years, Asha Bhosle has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and multiple National Film Awards, recognizing her immense contribution to Indian cinema and music. Her influence extends beyond Bollywood, as she has also performed internationally and collaborated with global artists.
