Mumbai: 2 Injured As Gas-Filled Balloons Explode Inside Lift in Goregaon Residential Building; Horrifying Video Surfaces
Mumbai News: Two people were injured when a bunch of gas-filled balloons exploded inside a lift at a residential building in Goregaon West on Monday, February 2, 2026. The incident occurred at Anmol Tower around 10:51 p.m., and the explosion was captured on the lift’s CCTV camera. Footage shows a woman entering the lift with a suitcase, followed by a man carrying a large bunch of gas-filled balloons in a plastic bag. As another man entered, a sudden blast occurred, causing panic and injuries to both occupants.

According to media reports, the injured were identified as Himani Gagan Tapariya, 21, a student from Surat, Gujarat, and Raju Kumar Mahato, 32, an employee delivering the balloons, was also injured. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Tapariya suffered burns to her right hand, neck and abdomen, while Mahto sustained burns to his face.
A preliminary inquiry suggested that Mahto had not been provided any safety equipment while handling the balloons. According to the report, the Goregaon police registered a case against the employer, T.K. Jaiswal, citing negligence and failure to provide safety equipment to the delivery worker. An investigation is ongoing.
