Mumbai Police’s Samta Nagar unit has arrested a 26-year-old youth who had allegedly come to Kandivali to deliver drugs. The accused has been identified as Vicky Vidhakar Padmukh. Police seized 65 grams of heroin from his possession, valued at approximately ₹9.75 lakh.
According to the police, Vicky had recently entered the drug trade in pursuit of quick money and had begun supplying narcotics to customers. However, his first attempt ended in failure as he was caught by the police before completing the delivery. A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and the Borivali local court has remanded him to police custody till Monday, April 27.
The accused is a resident of Damunagar, near Hanuman Temple in Kandivali, and has studied up to SY B.Com. Lured by the high profits in the drug trade, he decided to start supplying drugs based on customer demand. Police sources revealed that he had been in contact with certain drug peddlers for the past few months.
Acting on a tip-off received on April 22, police learned that Vicky would be arriving in Kandivali to deliver heroin to a customer. Following this information, a team led by Senior Police Inspector Jaywant Shinde and Police Inspector Ajitsingh Rajput, along with officers including API Raju Chaudhary and PSI Rahul Walunjkar, laid a trap near Lokhandwala Complex, Krantinagar rickshaw stand.
At around 4:45 pm, Vicky arrived at the spot. Finding his movements suspicious, the police detained him and conducted a search, during which the heroin was recovered.
During interrogation, it was confirmed that he had come to sell the drugs but was apprehended before the transaction could take place. Police have initiated further investigation and are now trying to trace the supplier who provided him with the narcotics.
