Mumbai: 9-Year-Old Boy Abducted, Sexually Assaulted and Killed in Chunabhatti; 19-Year-Old Accused Arrested
In a shocking incident, a 9-year-old boy was abducted, sexually assaulted, and brutally murdered in the Chunabhatti area. The Chunabhatti police have arrested a 19-year-old accused in connection with the crime. The accused is a native of Champaran, Bihar. According to police officials, the accused strangled the minor to death, and the victim's body bore multiple injury marks.
The deceased boy, a resident of central Mumbai, lived with his family. On Tuesday, he came in contact with the 19-year-old accused, who lured him with food and money. The accused took the boy along with him and, in the early hours of Wednesday, led him to the railway gate near Nagoba Chowk, adjacent to a cemetery in Kurla East, within Chunabhatti police station limits.
Once there, the accused attempted to force himself on the minor. However, when the boy resisted, the accused strangled him to death. Chunabhatti police registered a case based on a complaint filed by a sub-inspector. A case has been registered under BNS sections 103(1), 104, along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, including sections 4, 6, and 10. Officials confirmed that the accused was arrested late Wednesday night.
The victim was taken to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion, where doctors declared him dead. Medical reports revealed multiple injury marks across the child's body, indicating that he was physically assaulted before the murder. The boy's body was autopsied at Lokmanya Tilak Hospital. Forensic experts also inspected the crime scene and collected evidence. A dog squad was also present at the scene.
The Police have checked his criminal history and found no prior offenses. Chunabhatti police are conducting further investigations.
