Mumbai Accident: 75-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Run Over by Reversing Dumper in Mulund

 

 

In a shocking road accident, a 75-year-old elderly man lost his life after being run over by a dumper that was being reversed recklessly. The incident triggered panic in the area, with locals expressing strong outrage. Navghar Police have registered a case and arrested the dumper driver.

 

According to the police, the accident occurred on March 23, 2026, at around 11:00 am on Sant Tukaram Road, in a lane opposite Ganesh Talkies. The dumper driver, identified as Usman Iqbal Ahmed Shah (24), was reversing the vehicle without taking basic precautions such as checking behind or deploying a guide.

 

During this time, Ravindra Dattatray Rane (75), who was passing through the area, came under the vehicle. Eyewitnesses stated that the impact was severe, causing the victim to fall, after which the rear wheel of the dumper ran over both his legs and right hand.

 

The victim started bleeding profusely, leading to chaos at the spot. Local residents immediately called the 108 ambulance service, and the injured was rushed to Veer Savarkar Hospital. Despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead.

 

Upon receiving information, Navghar Police reached the scene and detained the driver. Preliminary investigation revealed that negligence and violation of traffic norms were the primary causes of the accident.

 

The police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections for rash and negligent driving causing death. The dumper has been seized, and further investigation is underway.
