Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway Accident: Van Loaded With 600 Kg Silver Overturns Near Charoti

A van transporting silver bricks valued at nearly Rs 17.66 crore overturned on the Charoti flyover along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway, triggering panic and heavy police deployment at the accident site. According to reports, the vehicle was carrying around 600 kilograms of silver and was travelling from Mumbai towards Gujarat when the incident occurred. The precious metal consignment had reportedly been dispatched from Nakoda Bullion Company in Mumbai and was headed to Modi Sons Limited located at Vapi GIDC in Gujarat. The accident drew immediate attention due to the massive value of the cargo being transported through the busy highway route during the early hours of Friday.

Preliminary findings suggest that the driver lost control of the van while crossing the Charoti flyover, causing the vehicle to overturn on the highway. The impact left the van badly damaged, though the driver escaped with only minor injuries. He was immediately provided medical treatment at the spot. Authorities confirmed that no other major injuries or casualties were reported in the incident. The accident briefly disrupted vehicular movement on the stretch as commuters slowed down near the overturned vehicle. Police suspect that factors such as speeding, mechanical failure, or difficult road conditions may have contributed to the mishap, though the exact reason is still being examined.

Soon after the accident was reported, officials from the Kasa police station reached the location and launched security and recovery operations. Considering the high-value silver consignment inside the vehicle, the police quickly secured the area and restricted public access near the damaged van to avoid chaos or theft attempts. Traffic movement on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway was also regulated to prevent congestion during the operation. Officers remained stationed at the spot while the silver bricks were shifted under tight security arrangements. Recovery work continued for several hours before the highway was gradually cleared for normal traffic movement.

Police officials stated that the silver bricks were kept under strict protection while transport papers and ownership documents were carefully verified. Authorities are now conducting a detailed investigation to determine the precise cause behind the accident. Investigators are examining whether overspeeding, a technical malfunction in the vehicle, or the condition of the road played a role in the van overturning on the flyover. Officials are also expected to inspect the vehicle mechanically as part of the inquiry. Meanwhile, the valuable silver consignment was reported safe and accounted for after the accident, according to officials associated with the investigation.
