Mumbai: BEST to Run Additional Buses for HSC and SSC Students During Board Exams

Ahead of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board examinations, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has announced special transport arrangements to help students commute smoothly to their examination centres across the city, reported Mid Day. The HSC (Class 12) examinations will be held from February 10 to March 11, while the SSC (Class 10) exams are scheduled between February 20 and March 18. With thousands of students expected to travel daily during this period, BEST has directed its administration to ensure uninterrupted and timely bus services.

Under the arrangement, depot managers, deputy depot managers and assistant depot managers have been instructed to deploy additional buses wherever required. Extra services will be arranged based on requests from students or parents and after reviewing ground-level traffic conditions near examination centres. BEST will also station its officials and inspectors at major bus stops and busy routes to speed up traffic clearance, regulate services and prevent delays during peak examination hours.

In addition, BEST staff, including drivers, conductors and inspectors, have been asked to assist students politely and provide necessary guidance throughout their journey. To make boarding easier and faster, students appearing for the HSC and SSC examinations will be permitted to enter buses through the front door for the entire exam period. The initiative is part of wider efforts by authorities in Maharashtra to ensure that students reach their examination venues on time without facing any inconvenience.
