Mumbai Crime: Man Arrested For Attacking Brother-In-Law Over Estranged Wife’s Address in Sakinaka

The Sakinaka Police have arrested a man who had allegedly gone absconding after brutally assaulting his brother-in-law for refusing to disclose the whereabouts of his estranged wife. The accused, identified as Naresh Tambe, is currently in police custody and is being interrogated. His associate, Gulab Sheikh, has been declared wanted and efforts are underway to trace him.

According to police, the incident took place on April 23 between 8:45 pm and 9:30 pm at Sangharsh Nagar, Building No. 17 in Sakinaka.

The victim, 27-year-old Vicky Naresh Jadhav, resides in the Jarimari area of Sakinaka and works as an office boy at a Mahindra Home Finance office in Kurla. Police said Vicky’s elder sister Sonali was married to Naresh Tambe, but the couple had been facing marital disputes for the past six years. Due to ongoing family issues, Sonali had decided to live separately along with her child and had not disclosed her current address to her husband.

On April 23, while Vicky and his wife had left for work, his mother-in-law Lata was alone at home when Naresh allegedly arrived at the residence and threatened to kill Vicky for not revealing Sonali’s address.

Later in the evening, after learning about the threat, Vicky went to confront Naresh. During the confrontation, Naresh allegedly demanded that Vicky bring back his wife and child, help him reconnect with his sisters, and reveal Sonali’s residential or workplace address. He also allegedly threatened Vicky with dire consequences if he failed to do so.

The argument soon escalated, following which Naresh allegedly abused and physically assaulted Vicky with punches and kicks. Gulab Sheikh, who was accompanying him, allegedly threatened to break Vicky’s limbs. Police said when Vicky’s wife attempted to intervene, she too was verbally abused.

During the assault, the accused allegedly slammed Vicky’s head against a wall, causing serious head injuries. After the attack, both accused fled from the spot.

The injured Vicky was later rushed to Rajawadi Hospital by his wife and sister, where he received primary treatment. Following treatment, he approached the Sakinaka Police and lodged a complaint against Naresh Tambe and Gulab Sheikh.

Based on his complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to causing grievous injuries and other offences.

After the FIR was registered, both accused went absconding. During the investigation, police traced and arrested Naresh Tambe on Saturday. He was later produced before a court, which remanded him to police custody. Further investigation is underway.
