The Mumbai Traffic police have intensified their crackdown on speeding drivers under the influence of alcohol, taking action against 6,917 people in the first nine months of this year. This marks a six-fold increase in enforcement activities compared to the same period last year.
In the past nine months, traffic police have intensified efforts to target people endangering themselves and others by driving under the influence of alcohol. Under the leadership of Joint Commissioner of Police Anil Kumbhare, enforcement has ramped up significantly this year. Last year, police took action against 1,217 drivers, while the current year has seen prosecutions soar to 6,917. Notably, in January alone, 526 people were penalized for drunk driving.

Increased Crackdown on Alcohol Abuse and MinorsIn the wake of the Porsche accident incident in Pune, Mumbai Police have intensified their efforts against drunk driving, establishing blockades at various locations throughout the city. As part of a special initiative, bars and pubs have been thoroughly inspected and patrolled. Additionally, authorities have taken action against individuals providing alcohol to minors in Powai and Dadar, with similar measures being implemented in other areas of Mumbai.
