The blaze erupted on the second floor of the Shree Building, a multi-use structure that houses numerous commercial establishments, including several garment shops. Locals allege that a restaurant has set up an illegal kitchen by encroaching on the building’s compound. Residents accused the restaurant of operating a commercial kitchen without the necessary fire safety licences or health department permits.
