A massive fire broke out at Poonam Apartment in Worli area of Mumbai on Monday evening, September 15. Mumbai Fire Brigade rushed to the scene after receiving the information and is currently working to extinguish the blaze. However, there have been no reports of injuries or deaths in the incident till now.
A video shows flames coming out from a flat on the ground floor of the said building. Chaos in the area can be seen as residents and locals gather at the site to witness the fire. Firefighters and other emergency crews are working to control the blaze.
According to information, the apartment is located on Annie Besant Road, Worli. Emergency services, including local police and ambulance. More details awaited. The reason for the fire will be investigated once the cooling operations are concluded at the site.
"There are no reports of injuries. It may have been caused by a short circuit in the meter cabin. A probe is underway to ascertain cause of the fire," the official said. The blaze, which was reported from Poonam Apartment at 6.44 pm, was doused at 7:19 after personnel from Fire Brigade, BEST and police were deployed.

Meanwhile, on September 7, a woman died and 18 other residents were injured in a fire that broke out in a 24-storey building in Dahisar, Mumbai. The incident had taken place in the New Janakalyan Society at Shanti Nagar in Dahisar at around 3 pm.
At the time of the incident, the emergency crew rescued six people and transported them to various nearby hospitals for their treatment. Of the seven injured admitted to a nearby hospital, one died due to burn injuries. The condition of others was said to be stable.
