A 24-year-old man kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 1.5-year-old girl in Mumbai's Dahisar area. According to the Mumbai Police, the accused is the relative of the victim's father. The police rescued the victim within 24-hours and admitted to a hospital where she's underwent a surgery and is currently recovering.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has taken serious note of the case and  spoke to top officials. Shinde ordered a thorough probe and ensured best medical care and strict action against the accused. 

The child is the resident of Dahisar. The incident occurred on February 10, when her parents woke up and found their child is missing. A case of kidnapping was registered by the police and started investigating it will by check CCTV footages in the area.

They found that the child was taken to a deserted location in Dahisar. The accused was searched and arrested on the same day of the incident and the child was rescued from a nearby nullah. She was rushed to the civic hospital as he had suffered serious injuries.

According to the police, the accused works as a labourer and lives in the same neighbourhood as the victim. The police registered a case of sexual assault under the BNS and POCSO Act.
