A threatening phone call warning of a possible terror attack at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and the Trident Hotel sent security agencies into a tizzy on Wednesday, prompting an immediate high alert across both locations.
The caller allegedly claimed that terrorists would soon target the two prominent hotels. Acting swiftly on the information, the hotel authorities informed the Mumbai Police, following which security arrangements were intensified.
Police teams, along with bomb detection and disposal squads and dog squads, carried out extensive searches across the hotel premises and surrounding areas. Surveillance was stepped up, and strict monitoring was enforced at all entry and exit points.
During the investigation, police traced the origin of the call and detained the आरोपी from Mumbai’s Sion area. Officials confirmed that he is currently being interrogated to determine the exact motive behind issuing the threat.
Preliminary findings suggest that the accused made the call while under the influence of alcohol. He was reportedly dealing with personal domestic issues, which may have led to the incident. The accused, who works in housekeeping, remains in police custody as further inquiries continue.
Authorities later confirmed that the threat was a hoax and no suspicious objects were found during the security checks.
