Mumbai, June 5: A huge fire broke out at Churchgate Railway Station in Mumbai on Thursday evening, June 5. According to the information, the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit in a Monginis cake shop at the station. Blaze engulfed the wooden structure in the cake shop located near the local station. The British-era-built station is located in South Mumbai in Maharashtra.

Videos shared on social sites, including on X, show smoke spreading in the station's entrance. Clouds of white smoke are visible from far, which also hampered visibility in the area.

The blaze was reported at around 5:26 pm on Thursday evening, after which Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) vehicles, local police, and BMC ward staff rushed to the spot. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) initially declared a Level I fire inside the Churchgate railway station.
Smoke Filled the Railway Station
The rescue team launched a dousing operation at the railway station and extinguished the blaze at around 5.47 pm, reported the Western Railway (WR) of Mumbai division. As of now, there are no reports of injuries or casualties in the incident.
"An incident of sparking due to short circuit was reported at one of stalls at Churchgate Concourse area. Immediately fire extinguisher was used by the alert staff and everything was brought under control within five minutes. There is no injury or report of any harm to anyone. Train operations are normal at Churchgate," said WR.
