Mumbai Local Train Block: Western Railway Announces Night Traffic and Signalling Shutdown Between May 15 and 17; Check Revised Schedule
Western Railway will undertake major night blocks on its suburban network between May 15 and 17 to carry out infrastructure and signalling upgrades at Dadar Railway Station and Naigaon Railway Station, officials said on Friday. The railway administration stated that the works include commissioning an Electronic Interlocking system at Dadar station and launching Foot Over Bridge (FOB) girders at Naigaon station. The first block will take place from 11 pm on May 15 until 6 am on May 16 on the 5th line along with the UP and DOWN fast corridors at Dadar station to facilitate signalling-related work linked to the new interlocking system.
Another night block will be implemented between May 16 and 17 for the installation of two FOB girder spans at Naigaon station with the help of a road crane. During this period, the UP and DOWN slow lines will remain blocked from 1 am to 4 am, while the UP and DOWN fast lines will be shut between 2:30 am and 3:30 am. Western Railway said all suburban fast trains will be diverted to slow lines between Mumbai Central and Santacruz during the block. DOWN slow services between Bhayandar and Vasai Road will operate on the DOWN fast corridor. Several suburban services are expected to remain cancelled, and passengers have been advised to check details with station masters across the suburban section.
The blocks will also impact multiple mail and express services, leading to delays, short-termination, and partial cancellations. Train No. 19016 Porbandar–Dadar Saurashtra Express departing on May 15 will terminate at Borivali instead of Dadar. Train No. 12927 Dadar–Ekta Nagar Superfast Express departing on May 16 and Train No. 19003 Dadar–Bhusaval Khandesh Express leaving on May 17 will originate from Borivali. Train No. 22946 Okha–Dadar Saurashtra Mail departing on May 16 will be delayed by 2 hours and 15 minutes from Okha and will terminate at Borivali. Several other trains, including the Bhusaval–Dadar Special, Ekta Nagar–Dadar Express, Hanumangarh–Dadar Express, and Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad Gujarat Superfast Express, will also face delays and regulation. Western Railway clarified that no daytime block will be carried out on Sunday, May 17.
